What’s with everyone hating on SCORM?
SCORM is a tech standard based on the same technologies that power most of today’s websites. So, it can’t be THAT bad, right?
I reckon that most people who complain about SCORM are actually talking about two things:
● Lousy implementation of the standard. If you’ve ever tried to upload a SCORM package into an LMS, you have a good reason for outrage. It might be the fault of the LMS, it might be Articulate Storyline, or it might be the e-learning designer. But it’s your headache.
● Using SCORM for the wrong purpose. SCORMs are mostly used for e-learning courses. If your challenge requires a different kind of content, SCORM will be less than ideal.
Apart from that, SCORM serves its purpose just fine. It can also look great on mobile (if only done the right way).
Am I missing any other reasons for hating it?
