Vetting tech vendors is hard.
Here are 3 questions to quickly identify those that deserve your attention:
1. Can I understand how it works?
Revolutionary technology often comes with tech jargon and glossy presentations. But ChatGPT is complicated too, yet everyone understands how it works, right? Run away if it sounds too complicated. 💨
2. Can I try it?
Get access and try it yourself. Check if it works as it should. Is it too complicated to set up a demo or gain access? If so, run away! 💨
3. Would I, as a user, enjoy using this tech?
Try to be objective here. Not everyone is fond of new technology. Maybe it doesn’t really solve their problem. Maybe the learning curve is too steep. Maybe they’re happy with the status quo because they have more important things on their minds.
🎁 One last bonus tip: Don’t try to outsmart the vendor with tech questions (unless you really know what you’re talking about). And don’t be afraid to ask “stupid” questions. Rely on good old common sense. It’s not your problem if you struggle to understand things – it’s the vendor’s.
