Beyond courses

Courses are sexy 💄
But they are difficult and expensive to build.
They also require additional time and effort from the learners.

Thus, courses can’t be the ideal source of knowledge for all situations.

Ideally, you would use courses (and tests) to pass on knowledge that is frequently used by employees and has a high impact on the business.

If knowledge has a low impact on business or is only rarely used, it makes much more sense to pack it into performance support tools (e.g., FAQs, cheat sheets, quick guides) and make it easy for employees to find them at the point of need.

There are two tricky parts, though:

👉 What format to choose for the PSTs?
👉 How to store them so they are easy to find?
